N-Grams!

It's hard to simply define what an n-gram is, at least for people who don't know about computer coding and databases. Our friends at Wikipedia have a pretty extensive article on the subject of N-grams.

We are going to conduct a visual/digital poetry investigation in class today using Google's N-gram viewer. Basically, every word that has been scanned in the Google Books project is represented in this corpus.

Your job is to select 5 words or two-word phrases that relate to each other in some fashion (obscure or obvious). The connection might be purely personal and idiosyncratic. That's up to you. Write the words down, and we'll plug them in and see what gets generated.
