REMINDER: This Thursday, April 24, we will use the class session as an idea-laboratory. Students will have a few minutes each to articulate their idea or ideas for their final project. The rest of the classmates will respond critically: What are the opportunities for such a project? How does it fit with the central concerns of the class? What are the historical antecedents? Etc. Look at some of the thousands of examples on ubuweb.com if you are having trouble coming up with an idea. Get inspired. Remember, it's not just ink on paper, it's sound, paint, sculpture, performance, computers, unclassifiable stuff, and so on.
On the day of your presentation a one-page single-spaced typed page (really a miniature essay) is due. This essay should contextualize your project: What is it doing? Why? Who before you has done something similar? What's the philosophy behind it? How doe sit fit in with the central concerns of our seminar. Please don't treat these questions like a laundry list; make your essay cohesive and readable. No extensions will be granted for this assignment.
